LET'S BRING ITALY TO SCHOOLS!

The Italian Consulate, in collaboration with CASIT, has begun a new season of “LET’S BRING ITALY TO SCHOOLS!" as CASIT resumes its activities after the pandemic.

The high school students of Italian at Somerville High were proud to share with all other foreign language students the “magic” of Italian music.

“Canzoni e arie” from Verdi, Tosti, Ponchielli, Mascagni, Leoncavallo, De Curtis, Cardillo/Cordiferro, Gastaldon, Di Capua, Denza, filled the auditorium.

A finale with a standing ovation of over 200 students and a multilanguage “Bravo” concluded the cultural program.

PROGETTO NEOLAUREATI

ITALIAN SUMMER CAMP

C.A.S.IT. organizes Italian Summer Camps to give students ages 4-11 years old a fun and dynamic full immersion Summer Camp Experience. Over the years, the Summer Camp has been a collaboration with the Eliot K-8 Innovation School of Boston and the Dante Alighieri Society of Boston.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Educational trips to Italy are awarded as scholarships to deserving students of Italian, who upon returning to the US, become "authentic ambassadors" of the Italian language and culture.

ITALIAN DAY IN SCHOOLS

Every month C.A.S.IT. brings a glimpse of Italy to the schools that offer Italian as a curricular subject.

Italian Day gives the students the opportunity to experience Italy in all its cultural wealth.

The Oculus Experience. Students do a virtual tour of Italian cities thanks to the OCULUS experience. They immerse themselves in the eternal city of Rome, the stunning Costiera Amalfitana, and the beauty that is Pisa.

Imparare con Gusto. Students have a chance to see a renowned chef make fresh pasta and have a hands on experience. It is an occasion to learn related culinary vocabulary in a fun way. As Italians would say, learning “con le mani in pasta” (lit. “with the hands in the dough”)!

Commedia dell'Arte. Fun is guaranteed when Italian traditional Commedia dell’Arte is on! Students learn about Commedia dell’Arte: its characters, music and dances. They meet the funny Arlecchino, Pantalone and Pulcinella and hear them speak in their typical Italian dialect!

I Classici. Students are introduced to Italian Opera and the world of "Bel Canto" with "I Classici" presenting a short version of "La Traviata" !

Folklore. Because Italy is music, dance and traditions, students are introduced to folkloric songs and music, and learn how to dance Tarantella and Pizzica in collaboration with Newpoli, local artists.
